Westport PAL Fall 2022 Football Programs



House Flag Football The House Flag Football Program is open to 1st- 8th-grade boys and girls
This NFL-based Flag program provides a fun and safe football experience with NFL team jerseys and flag sets that each player can keep and is guided by NFL Flag rules.  Play is divided into 1st/2nd grade, 3rd/4th grade, 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade.  PAL Commissioners will attempt to put rosters together based on schools.  Practice will be held once per week with a game on Saturday mornings, and the season will start the weekend of September 10th.  Westport may participate with other towns such as Weston, Wilton and Fairfield. 



Travel Modified Tackle Football Westport PAL Football and the Fairfield County Football League (FCFL) are excited to announce a Travel Modified Tackle Football league for 3rd and 4th graders.  Travel Modified Tackle Football will use Flag football rules and wear full equipment; helmets, shoulder pads, football pants, and game jerseys. (Tackling is not allowed, flags are pulled to down ball carriers).  Tackle football options are not available for grades 3 & 4.
Teams will compete against other FCFL town teams with modified field size and FCFL referees.  Travel Modified TackleFootball will be for players interested in a more competitive football experience where coaches will be teaching safe football fundamentals and key skills such as throwing, catching, ball carrying, and blocking techniques. Certified coaches will conduct practices in accordance with the PAL curriculum and fundamentals. 
PAL may cap registration at 2 teams per grade and hold evaluations to select rosters.
Teams will practice twice per week with a game on the weekends. (PAL will make efforts to avoid conflicts with travel soccer).



  • Tackle FootballWestport PAL Football and the Fairfield County Football League will continue to offer our traditional tackle football program for 5th-8th graders in the 2022 season.  Pre-season will begin on Monday, August 15th this year, continuing with 2 weeks of pre-season of practices with the FCFL Jamboree taking place on the weekend of August 27th /August 28th, the regular season running 8 weeks with single elimination playoffs to follow.  To ensure a great experience for every player, we may cap the number of rostered players per grade and hold evaluations to select the rosters. Teams will practice 3 to 4 days per week with a game on the weekend.

Modified Travel Flag Program for Grades 3-4 (Register Early for Best Price)

Cost structure for Modified Travel Flag (MTF) & Flag Combo Football:

  • $350‚Äč prior to 8/1
  • $450 after 8/1 (includes $100 late fee)
  • Note for Modified Travel Flag (MTF) & Flag Combo Players: This new program will allow kids to participate in both our house flag program on Saturday mornings and Play Modified Travel Flag on Sundays. 

    Sibling Discounts A $100 discount will automatically be applied to all registrations for families with multiple players.  The players must all reside in the same household for the discount to be applied.

    Westport PAL Football Provides:
    A certified helmet with chin strap, shoulder pads, 1 practice jersey, and one game jersey.

    Parents Provide:
    A cup (athletic supporter), game socks. mouth guard and cleats.  You may also want to purchase additional performance layering for cold days.  A backup or custom mouth guard is also recommended.
